I've had a long history with Barry M Nail polishes. One of the reasons I started blogging was because a review I read matched my very own thoughts about a poor performing streaky watery black Barry M Nail polish. In a way, it opened my eyes to the value that reviews could give (if I had read that review before buying it I would not have bought it) and I eventually decided to add my tuppence to the internet. Perhaps that turn of events was a good thing, perhaps not ... Either way here I am, several years later - sharing.
Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Peanut Butter |
Since then, Barry M has made a lot of changes to the range from liquidising their loose powders (dazzle dusts) to a measly 5, cutting back on their classic nail paint range and basically trendifying their products into everything that art holy on Instagram (strobe highlight/mermaid colours/contour/lip kits/brush kit with beauty blending sponge/sheet mask etc.). Now whilst most hip-a-de-hip things can pretty much pass me by, Barry M Gelly polishes really could not. For some reason, I just had a feeling that they were going to be good. So, I ended up breaking my makeup ban last year for Blood Orange & Acai Smoothie and I have not looked back since.

The Formula: Barry M Gel polishes are semi-thick (not runny or watery and neither gloopy). The fanned wide brush makes it easy to coat the nail plate with three easy swipes. Most shades will have full opacity in two thin coats that dry fairly quickly and are easy to build on. I'm really impressed with the formula and with the right careful application and care my manicure can last pretty nicely.
Products used for the manicure: Gabrini No More Breaks Basecoat, Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Peanut Butter and CND VinylLux Weekly Top Coat. I applied two coats of polish for each product. |
The Colour: Peanut Butter is a beigey peach tone nude that looks very understated yet elegant. This is such a great colour to wear on an everyday basis, that I imagine will not look too out of place in even the most formal workplaces. Plus, due to its warm undertone, it works so nicely on dark skin as a flattering barely there "nude" and the name is just so cute!
My opinion of Barry M Gelly Nail Paints: Currently, I only have four Barry M Gelly Paints in my collection - Blood Orange, Acai Smoothie, Matcha + Peanut Butter - and I love them! They're easy to work with, affordable (especially with buy 1 get 1 half price or 3 for 2 offers) and just an all-around beautiful collection that's easy to find in the UK.
