SUQQU BLEND COLOR EYESHADOW IN RENGAZOME (EX-32)

The star of Suqqu's autumn/winter 2016 makeup collection is this new, limited edition eye shadow palette.  Like the Chanel autumn/fall collection (previewed here), Suqqu's is also inspired by the powerful and feminine colour red.

Packaging
The palette is encased in sleek black lacquer with the brand name embossed on the front.  It differs slightly from the permanent eye shadow palettes as it has the added embossed "cracked" effect pattern on the left side.  The same pattern is used on the matte brown eye shadow.  Beautiful, yet simple and subtle.  The palette is slim and fairly lightweight - practical for travel.  Also, the palette does come with a black, suede-like pouch (not pictured).

Below is the product description label on the bottom of the compact.
Underneath the lid is a large mirror for on-the-go application and/or touch-ups. The palette also comes with a dual-ended sponge applicator and a dual-ended brush applicator. They're of excellent quality.
The brush have ultra soft, silky hairs - similar to their full-sized brushes, so they're very usable indeed - especially if you're hands are on the smaller side like mine. ;-)  One end is shorter for packing on the product on the lid, and the other brush is longer and used for blending.  The sponges are high high quality and fairly dense.   The thinner end is great for lining the eyes precisely, while the other larger sponge end is used for packing product.

Colours & Finishes

The palette consists of a light to medium olive (top left in palette), a medium, yellow-toned red brick shade (top right) and a warm gold (bottom right) with a pearl finish, and a deep matte brown (bottom left).  Personally, I find the shade range in this palette more complete compared to the Chanel Fall/Autumn 2016 palette (to be reviewed), because at least it offers that much brighter, lightest shade and overall, provides greater contrast between the colours as well as different finishes.  Most of the colours are neutral so you can use this palette any time of year really, but the red shade definitely gives it that autumn/winter vibe.  The red shade will really contrast well against those with brown, blue or pale coloured eyes, thereby making their eye colour stand out more, but I think anyone can pull of the red shade as everyone naturally has some red tone in their skin.  However, just be sure to cancel out any redness on the rest of your face with foundation and if required - a concealer and optionally, a colour corrector (green) so the red eye shadow becomes the feature rather than something that accentuates even more unwanted redness in the skin.  I would also avoid wearing the red shadow if you happen to have any existing redness in your eyes as it can make them look worse.  Surprisingly, I am most in love with the olive shade in the palette despite normally inclined to steer away from green eye shadows.  This one is actually very wearable for me and leans more brownish than green on my eye lids.  As it has a lovely subtle sheen finish, I find it lovely worn on its own for every day use.

Swatches
Below are swatches using a clean finger without primer.  For reference, I have medium to tanned, olive (~NC30-35) skin tone and the swatches were photographed indoors using a strobe.
Comparison Swatches
Here are the comparison swatches to a couple of other red-themed eye shadow palettes I have in my personal collection.  On the left is Dior's Trafalgar (876) followed by Suqqu Rengazome then Chanel's Candeur et Expérience (268) on the right.
Texture & Application
Typical of Japanese-made powders (like Surratt beauty, etc), these are very soft, ultra fine, silky and almost weightless in feel.  The colour applies smoothly and evenly.  There is no fall-out or drop down of powder.  The powder melds superbly with the skin and requires very little time and effort to blend.  Excellent for beginners (if Suqqu is within your budget) and for those that are always short of time to apply makeup during their day like new mums!! >_<

Pigmentation & Finish
Excellent colour pay-off, and due to the fine, silky texture of the shadows, they leave a gorgeous, soft and seamless finish.

Look
Below is my favourite way to wear the eye shadows.  I used all four shades on my eyes:
The lightest shade in the inner corners.  The red on the centre of my mobile eye lids.  The olive on the outer corners and along the bottom lash line.  The matte brown on the outer corners and crease.  I only used the applicators provided in the palette.  Below are photographs taken using my phone camera (hence, the lower quality! >_<) taken indoors under artificial lighting.
Below is a closer look at my eye look.  You will note, it's quite soft and this is the way I prefer to apply my eye shadows most of the time, but you can certainly easily build up the colour to your desired intensity!
Below are all the items I used for my entire look in case you were interested.
For foundation I used the new Suqqu Extra Rich Cream foundation.  For my cheeks, I used the lightest blush shade in the SUQQU Pure Color Blush in Hanachaori (02), and the darkest shade to underneath the cheeks and jawline to add a soft contour and a touch of warmth.  For lips, I added Suqqu Extra Glow Lipstick in Ex-01 Mitsuichigo. (Reviews of all three latter products are coming soon!  Both the blush and lipstick are from the same collection).  For brows I used my current favourite Nyx Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown.  La Prairie Concealer.  My all time fave tool, the Suqqu Cheek Brush (for blush, contour and powder - a great all-rounder!).  Shu Uemura eye lash curler - a long-time staple.  Dolly Wink liquid eye liner in black - a cult favourite (one of the best in my opinion!)  Finally, Sublime de Chanel Mascara in black.

Longevity & Wear
Brilliant!  These lasted on my eyelids from the morning I applied it til I took it all off late in the evening with barely noticeable fading.  For reference, I have normal skin condition on my eye lids (neither oily or dry) and did not use any eye primer (just the slightest layer of foundation and concealer), and tried this on during Australia's cold and dry winter conditions.

Overall
Despite the initially intimidating red shade, it's made more wearable by mixing with the brown matte shade, for example.  It gives a hint of colour that's wearable for day and even to work!  You can also use it as a blush for added versatility. :)  All in all, the colour combination works well and there's enough contrast in between the four shades and a mix of finishes to make it complete.  Like the other Suqqu eye shadow palettes I've tried, this one is no exception - the colour pay-off is great and the ultra-fine, silky texture makes it effortless to apply and blend.  Overall, the quality is excellent from the packaging, application tools to the powder itself.  I highly recommend this palette if you're looking to venture into the world of red eye shadows, which is very trendy this autumn/winter season!
