Robert Reich gave an excellent opinion piece about Apple and how this corporation needs to pay more back taxes than the nearly fifteen billion dollars it was ordered to back pay by the European Union's executive commission. Ireland was ordered to quit being a tax haven for rich corporations and collect the back taxes from Apple it should of collected in the past. far-right Republicans were outraged in America that the EU could go after an abusive American company that has done nothing for the average person in America and uses a tax-avoidance scheme to further stick it to the average working joe that this company has always disdained with their glitzy overly-expensive product that advertisers push on the public no different that a corner drug pusher. As Robert Reich points out these are taxes are corrupt system should of been collecting and required this company pay to the America treasury and it is embarrassing that it was the EU to illustrate that this company goes to such lengths to avoid its fiscal responsibility to the country of its base.
Reich shows how the loophole that allows Apple to grow was enabled by the power of this company and its growing insane mass profits it then throw back into the political arena into getting the law put into play where they can take advantage of paying taxes that you and I nd all have to pay for a functioning strong government and not one that would be weak and more representative in Africa. Apple and other companies would do their best to bring down every strong western government and make them resemble Gabon or Mali more than Switzerland and Sweden refusing to fund a strong social safety net and benefits for the population. Reich brings up the major assets of apple is its software, designs, and patents whose value really can't and havn't been taxed as the assets of other industries and the whole existence and success of Apple is primarily its ability not to pay its fair share through the years.
Apple transferred all its intellectual capital to Ireland through the years and the tiny European tax haven charges the company a paltry .0005 percent rate and the increased profits as Apple sells its hardware to Europe has been staggering and the power used to corrupt politicians and other business people is why back tax collection is needed to combat this growing threat. Apple has amassed a 231.1 billion dollar reserve chest it uses to fight for the continued ability to cheat the governments around the world all the while taking further debt to power its future. The main reason for all these budgetary problems from antions around the world s the role of theft of taxation these companies are playing and ploying with loopholes to keep the money for themselves and dramatically increase inequality in society through their gadgets, drugs,and other products that should be taxed at a reputable rate for the benefit of all.
